Description: This is the perfect adventure package for the high-spirited traveler who desires to take on Costa Rica's wealth of natural treasures. Get ready to visit some of Costa Rica’s most exciting destinations including Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve, the active Arenal Volcano, Tortuguero Jungle Canals and the rollicking Pacuare River.
B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner.
Day 1: Arrival San Jose. (No meals.)
You will be picked up at the airport and taken to San José for an overnight stay at the Hotel Don Carlos, located in the center of the capital city’s cultural district. This elegant Victorian home was built at the turn of the last century and has been completely refurbished and restored. This fine hotel’s tastefully designed and decorated rooms will provide guests with a pleasant ambience and a restful night’s sleep.
Day 2: Monteverde Cloud Forest (B)
Discover the bewitching magic of the Monteverde Cloud Forest as you soar through the rainforest canopy and explore myriad nature trails. Pick up after breakfast and transfer to Monteverde (approx. 3½ hours), then overnight at the Hotel Sapo Dorado or similar.
Day 3: Arenal Volcano & Tabacón Hot Springs (B,D)
Take a boat ride across Lake Arenal, then check-in to world-famous Tabacón Resort and Spa where you will soothe your worries away in their lush gardens and thermal springs – in the shadow of the picture-perfect Arenal Volcano! Pick up and transfer to Arenal (approx. 3½ hours), then overnight at Tabacón Resort or similar.
Day 4: Biking at Arenal then on toward Sarapiquí (about 3 hours) (B,L,D)
Enjoy a scenic bike ride over paved roads that meander through lush tropical rainforests at the base of the volcano. Then return to your hotel for lunch, before traveling to the emerald green Sarapiquí area, located in Costa Rica’s Caribbean zone. Pick up and transfer to Sarapiquí (approx. 3 hours) and the Hotel Selva Verde.
Day 5: Rafting the Sarapiquí River (B, L)
Experience the thrill of rafting down a crystal-clear, tropical rainforest-fringed river. The area is a haven for bird watchers and offers nature-lovers of all types a delightful escape. Pick up and transfer to Sarapiqui River, 2½ hour white water rafting trip, then overnight at the Sueño Azul Resort.
Day 6: Tortuguero National Park (B,L,D).
Discover Costa Rica’s very own Amazon-like jungle as you explore lush jungle canals full of plant and animal life. Pick up and 2 hour transfer to Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, and then 2 hour boat transfer to the Pachira Lodge or similar.
Days 7: Tortuguero Canals. (B,L)
An early-morning boat tour along the Totuguero Canals will amaze you with the lush scenery and exotic wildlife, includes a visit to the town of Tortuguero. Then you will boat back to the Matina docks where you will transfer to a bus and head back to Sarapiquí and the Sueño Azul Resort.
Day 8: Rafting the Pacuare River (B,L,D)
Journey down one of the world’s most scenic white water rivers and overnight at the enchanting Pacuare Lodge. A soaring tropical rainforest, friendly service and optional tours compliment one of the highlights of your Costa Rica trip.
Day 9: Pacuare Rafting Day Two (B,L)
Get ready for an even more spectacular day of rafting as youplummet down roaring white water, explore side streams to towering waterfalls and simply relax amid the stunning flora and fauna. After changing at our private facilities you will be transferred back to San José (3 hours) and the Hotel Don Carlos.
Day 10: Departure from San José (B)
You will be picked up after breakfast and taken to the airport for your flight back home.
