| This new hotel sets the standard for Cahuita. Rooms in several buildings, well-spaced on informal grounds, are extraordinarily large with high ceilings, clerestory windows, white stuccoed walls, red tile floors, wooden louvers, and generous wooden trim. Covered passageways have squares of garden. A number of the design features effectively aid passive cooling without air conditioning.
There are trails through the property, 17 acres with fruit trees and exuberant and unruly vegetation. Treks to the Talamanca mountains, the indian reservation; river fishing and boating excursions can be arranged. Cuisine is excellent. The owners, a Canadian and a Tica, have extensive hotel experience. |
Hotel Jaguar has 45 rooms. Some rooms can be combined together forming suites. Most rooms are 500 square feet, which includes private bath and covered terrace. All beds are queen size and have firm mattresses. The rooms have the special passive cooling design with extra large windows, cross ventilation, high ceilings, thermo syphoning roof vents, wooden shutters and thermal isolation. All rooms are fully screened. PARKING: lots of parking space, with guard at night time. |
