This is our traditional tour on the road around the south  shore of Arenal Lake. This lane has very little traffic and offers the most relaxing ride through tropical forest full of monkeys, birds and the views of the lake as well as a chance to feel the unhurried rural life in this remote part of Costa Rica. After crossing the Caño Negro river we’ll ride on the abandoned road around the lake crossing a few streams and passing by small family farms and areas of protected forest. On the way back we’ll stop in the village of El Castillo for a delicious Costa Rican typical lunch.

All of our tours are designed so that cyclists of all skill levels can bike at their own pace. Our tour leaders know the routes in detail and are always able to offer both shorter and longer options to satisfy everyone on the trip.

Bike Arenal’s support vehicles are equipped with first aid kits, rain ponchos, spare bikes, spare parts and complete tool kits.

Distance: 30 to 40 km / 18.6 to 25 miles
Terrain: abandoned dirt road with some muddy and rocky sections and secondary road of gravel and sand.
Difficulty: Intermediate.
