When captain Warren Sellers began sportfishing professionally in Costa Rica in 1974, he was one of the first to do so. He has fished the Pacific coast of Costa Rica extensively from the Bat Islands in the north to the Hannibal Banks in the south. He chose Tamarindo as his home base due to its close proximity to the continental shelf.
With the angler's need in mind Warren pays attention to every detail. From choosing a boat that needs no mate and has 'fish around ability' for the flyfisherman, to custom wrapping his own rods Warren strives to give the angler the best fishing opportunities.
Warren has done two television shows that have aired widely throughout the United States and other parts of the world. One show for 'Outdoors Sportsman' featuring Bob Stearns on catching sailfish on fly. And another show hosted by Larry Schoenborn for the popular TV show 'Fishing The West'.
Conservation is the future of fishing. All billfish are released and hooks retrieved. |
Fishing starts at a 10 minute run time. Four day minimum package. Exotic tropical setting at a secluded beach. Two daily shuttle flights from December through April.
Garza Bay is located on the Nicoya Peninsula around 35 nautical miles south of Tamarindo. The peninsula protects it from the northerly winds that blow from December through April. Fishing is excellent, never more than more than 3 to 10 miles offshore.
Roosterfish, snapper and wahoo inhabit the Point area one mile from the beach. Pacific sailfish, marlin and giant tuna like to feed by the eddy just behind the point. |
