I highly, highly recommend this map: http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Costa-Rica-International-Travel/dp/1553411803

It is waterproof, has all the national parks, roads, beaches, botanical gardens.

Really I recommend this map!

We second that vote! It's the only map we use anymore!

Depending on what you are looking for check this site out-http://www.mapcr.com. They have a PDF map on there that looks great. You can also go to bookstores in CR and get decent maps. Have a great time I have been going there for 12 years and the country is beautiful. Just don't try to do business there the people are on 'tico time' and it's like pulling teeth to get them to do what they agreed to.

I agree with dstar0826. I've bought the map online from Map CR http://costa-rica-guide.com/travel/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=393&Itemid=624.
I've planned my trip with it and found it very good plus it is waterproof and you can also access it online.
Haven't tried it yet on the ground, will be in CR in August.
