DoggieGrandma Recent Member Posts: 2 Registered: Feb 2008	posted 02-13-2008 03:54 PM             We are considering retirement in Costa Rica and are interested in hearing the experiences others have had with bringing their dogs into the country. Are there obstacles as far as regulations?
LadyWriter Full Member Posts: 274 Registered: Dec 2004	posted 05-16-2008 05:07 AM             We take our two dogs in and out of Costa Rica with no problems whatsoever on either end. You need the international health certificate signed by the USDA and a current rabies vac along with the paperwork for that which is what the US Customs looks at when you re-enter the country. i just came back from CR and brought my cattle dog with me, which I took on the plane. The biggest problem was dealing with the CR goons who work for TSA who insisted my dog had to be crated, even though it has service dog status. But I jumped through all their hoops and they let me pass through security. The airline personnel were great, btw. Customs in Houston was easy too. They only cared about the Rabies paperwork. They never inspected the dog and did not take away the dog kibble that I had with me.
