We are thinking of moving to CR. I have been searching for the nursing licensing requirments. I can not seem to find a nursing board or equivelant on the internet. Does anyone know where I can find the requirements that I would need to work as a nurse in CR if I already am a RN in the US? |

Why does this question keep coming up? Your U.S. license does not mean squat to the appropriate licensing authorities in Cost Rica. They already have a surfeit of qualified and well trained nurses, who actually speak the language, and are intimate with the culture. Beyond that, one may not work in any capacity for a salary in Costa Rica unless one is a legal, permanent resident or citizen. Even if you were a legal resident who speaks, reads, and writes fluent Spanish, the pay is miniscule compared to what you might earn back in the states. Do some serious research at places like www.therealcostarica.com.......... |

undoubtedly you didn't understand JD's response to you. Costa Rica does not want you in their country to work. Not in any capacity. They keep their jobs for their own CITIZENS, unlike the good ole USE that allows anyone and everyone into the country to take our jobs. |

Your responses to people's questions are unprofessional and condescending. Costa Rica is a beautiful contry and of course people are interested in working there. Try and keep your sarcasm to a minimun. |

My two cents, the good 'ole US DOES NOT let just anybody in to take YOUR jobs!! I am an immigrant and clearly you have no idea how difficult and expensive it is to get into the US!! And we didn't take any American's job - no-one was as qualified as I am to do what I do! Trust me, my position had to be advertised NATIONALLY for 6 months and 3 months within the company! Anyway, it has nothing to do with Costa Rica. |

for Irishlass.........I was most definitely NOT being sarcastic. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence, capable of rational thought, should know that there are NOT that many people interested in working in a third world country, other than as volunteers, and that means for a limited time only. Costa Rica is certainly not ready, willing, or able to accept any kind of professional in addition to those already extant. Are you aware that CAJA doctors only earn 300 Colones per patient seen in the clinics? Do you have any idea how much money that means they actually earn? |
